Glenfarclas

One of Scotland’s most legendary distilleries, Glenfarclas is one of the most classic examples of a well crafted Speyside whisky. Founded in 1936, Glenfarclas has been run by the Grant family for over 6 generations, with the company currently headed by John Grant and his son George Grant acting as their brand ambassador. A heavier style of newmake spirit, Glenfarclas has made a name for itself with its exceptional quality sherry cask matured whisky. With stocks over 60 years in age, Glenfarclas has been able to consistently deliver high quality aged expressions at all times within its history, even pushing the boundaries in the 1960s with the introduction of Glenfarclas 105, the first ever cask strength single malt whisky.

A relatively small production with the demand seen for their spirit, Glenfarclas has the capacity for 3.5 million litres of alcohol per year, but only produced 1.8 million litres in 2020. Equipped with 3 pairs of direct fired stills, Glenfarclas produces an oily style of spirit that is perfectly crafted for long term sherry maturation. Also of note is the Glenfarclas Family Cask series, first launched in 2007 it is a series of single casks chosen and bottled by the distillery themselves. Highlighting the huge variety of aged stocks and varying levels of refilled casks, the Family Cask series has produced some of the greatest sherry matured whisky in Scotland.
