Overland Brewers and Distillers is thrilled to announce the release of our first Overland Tasmanian Single Malt Whisky. Of a limited ten bottle edition, only five will be available for sale by auction, with 100% of proceeds donated to local causes.

The five causes their owners and staff have elected to support are:

●      The Jarvis Family (friends of Overland fighting cancer)

●      Mosaic Disability Support Services

●      Bonorong Wildlife Sanctuary

●      Dogs' Homes of Tasmania

●      Tasmanian Land Conservancy

As for the rest of this very limited release, one bottle is now archived in our release library, and the remaining four bottles will be opened up and available on the Overland Whisky Bar Menu until sold out.

“I feel incredibly proud of this whisky because it represents nearly 5 years of dreaming and hard work by the Overland team and the many people who supported our vision of a whisky distillery in North Hobart. So likewise, I’m very excited to release one of our creations out into the world, while at the same time supporting five incredible groups/organisations in our community. This Vin Jaune cask whisky feels particularly special to be the first release out the doors here at Argyle St, as its creation was largely inspired by my time as a winemaker, working with wild vineyard yeasts and seeking out bottles of obscure, creative and brilliant wines.” — Nathan Reeves, Co-founder/Brewer & Distiller

ABOUT THE WHISKY: This first Overland release is a 2.5-year-old Tasmanian Single Malt. It was matured for 6 months in a French Oak Vin Jaune cask, then moved to a second fill American oak cask to mature for a further two years. A wild fermented mash produced an extraordinarily complex wash and new make spirit, with remarkable fruity aromas and flavours which carry through to the finished whisky.

TASTING NOTES: Aromas of apricot danish and maple peanut brittle lift from the glass, encircled by hints of fresh blueberries, honeydew melon and curry leaf. The palate leads with flavours of poached pear and wildflower honey on waffles, relaxing into dark muscovado sugar and toasted coconut. On the finish, hints of peat swirl with cocoa powder and salted caramel. A complex and velvety whisky, bringing together the unique elements of wild yeast character and Vin Jaune wine with subtle peat and American oak.
