Released in 2020, this limited release expression of Balvenie has seen incredible demand across the globe with critics praising it highly. Matured initially in both American oak and traditional whisky casks, this expression was then finished in Australian ex-shiraz and bottled at 48.1%. Inspired by the original red rose release that was bottled in 2008 and finished in a port pipe, the Balvenie sought long and hard for the right kind of casks to finish their whisky in. After some time, heavy Australian shiraz red wine casks were chosen and shipped to Scotland where matured Balvenie whisky was left to rest for an additional period.
